For
almost 50 years the Foundation Ecology & Agriculture (SÖL) has been
actively engaged in the further development and promotion of organic agriculture.
Key activities are the co-ordination of actors from within the organic movement
as well as the development and distribution of information about organic agriculture
to a broad range of players from academia, consultancy and practice.
Major
activities of the foundation include the further development and support of
organic agriculture. SÖL is a platform for information which we prepare
and distribute. As an independent foundation we are also engaged in education
and thus play an active part in the further development of organic agriculture.
In
1961 the "Georg Michael Pfaff Memorial Foundation" was officially
established by Karl Werner Kieffer. Originally the foundation was concerned
with education and health. Two other foundations were created in 1975: the
"Foundation for Organic Agriculture" and the "Foundation for
Appropriate Technology". In 1991 these three foundations were combined
to form the "Foundation Ecology & Agriculture", based in Bad
Dürkheim, Rhineland-Palatinate.
Overview,
introduction and contact
The
foundation was initiated by Karl Werner Kieffer and his wife Dagi Kieffer
- both exceptional personalities engaged in education, health and organic
agriculture.
The executive board represents the interests of the foundation. Furthermore the Board of Trustees, Advisory Board and an academic Advisory Council shape the work of the foundation and provide advise.
In the past the Foundation Ecology & Agriculture has provided financial assistance upon request. However, presently the work of the foundation is exclusively operational.
